We want every child and young person to know that carrying a knife is not cool, it won’t help to protect you and it will have consequences. The Ben Kinsella Knife Crime Awareness Exhibition is aimed at children and young people from 9 to 18 years and focuses on the tragic story of  the brilliantly talented student Ben Kinsella and the devastating impact his death had on everyone who knew him.

The exhibition educates young people on making positive life choices, the laws and consequences of knife crime, staying safe and aims to stop young people from ever carrying a knife. It includes films, interactive features and workshop activities to engage young people on the issues surrounding knife crime.

Some feedback since we launched the exhibition in September 2012 includes:
“This is an original hard hitting exhibition. So much more impact than the usual stuff… young people will take notice.”
“Very sensitive and tragic circumstances were dealt with appropriately and the children learnt a great deal that will hopefully help them to make the right choices in the future to keep themselves and others safe.”
“Incredible! This WILL save lives. So powerful.”

The exhibition is located at City North Islington, Fonthill Road, N4 3HF, right next to Finsbury Park station, where it will remain until the end of March 2013. In April we plan to relocate to South London where we are currently looking for a new venue. If you have any ideas about where we could move to then please get in touch! Call us on 0207 272 1968  9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday or email queries@benkinsella.org.uk .

Visits to the exhibition must be arranged in advance and are usually arranged via local authorities and organisations who have agreed to support and fund the exhibition, so far  these have included Islington Council, Haringey Council, Arsenal FC, Billy’s Memorial Fund and Billy’s Wish.

Individual groups and organisations are welcome to attend for a small fee and should contact the Trust Manager to arrange in advance. We do also hold free open community events from time to time so please check our events page for any upcoming events.
